Q: Are mosquitos a problem?

A:
Not really, you may think that because you now have this vast amount of water. In actuality mosquito larvae only live in stagnant water (non moving). If your pond has a nice waterfall or some type of circulation you wont have that problem. Also; fish, frogs ,bats, praying mantis, dragonflies, and spiders, All eat mosquitos! There is more of a chance to accumulate mosquitos in buckets and containers left outside that have become filled with rain water then there is for them to mass produce in your pond. If you have a stagnant pond, with no moving water. Then I would say you should make eliminate the problem either by adding tadpoles and other wildlife, or get the water moving. We are also only a phone call away.

We have an extensive amount of information about controling mostquitos in our downloads section.

Trapping mosquitos in their webs and eating all kinds of other bugs. If your lucky, you may find Fishing Spiders and Pirate Wolf Spiders running across the water of your pond to catch insects to eat.

Q: Should I spray bug killer to eliminate certain bugs?

A:
NO WAY!! Don't use any kind of bug spray at all! The spray will get into the pond water and harm your fish. Also, pesticides and bug sprays will kill frogs instantly. Not only that, but you will destroy any food source for your pets as well as beneficial insects such as Ladybugs and Praying mantis. If you have any kind of bug problem near your pond, call us!
